Oxford Sandy and Black Pigs are tops

It was Imogen’s 9th birthday yesterday and she got a special birthday cake adorned by a trio of Oxford Sandy and Black piglets! Not only that but also a figurine of herself with these rare breed pigs.

Mmmm the cake a jam sponge was very tasty too!

Meanwhile, Ommlett her Oxford Sandy and Black July gilt is starting to fill out after a growing spurt and should be in fine form for Newark and Notts County Show in May.

Recently we have been having fun trying to decide which of the four January gilts we will enter for Shropshire County Show at the end of May. We are using this show as a training show for all the January gilts Saddlebacks, Hampshires and Oxfords before a major assault on Cheshire County Show in June.

The Oxford Sandy and Black pigs are always the stars of the pigkeeping courses when new pigkeepers are won over by their metallic shiny coats, and the pigs inquisitive mentality. All the weaners are now sold with orders now being taken for future litters, gilts and young boars.

We have lots of pig training ahead of us these next few weeks as the pigs show season approaches.

See you at the shows?
